    Upgrade to 7.6?

Could you share your success/horror story of LoadRunner 7.6 installation and usage?

Do I need to install 7.6 or to use existing 7.5.1.1?

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

I've encountered no problems in installing or using 7.6, even though it's still a beta. It's not yet generally available - rumor shared by a MI engineer is a couple more weeks.

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

at this moment only Controller and Analysis ver 7.6 are available. Both are installed on top of 7.51 SP1 installation.

I've performed several installations (actually, upgrades) without any problems.

The full ver 7.6 should be released soon.

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

I upgraded to 7.6 advanced release and had problems running my RMI-Java users through the Controller. The ability to add additional classpath is not there. The field is missing from runtime setting Java VM tab. I had to revert back to 7.5.1.

Did you ask Mercury's support to help you?
    What did they say?

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

They said that the General release would possibly be out this week, so I am just waiting for now.

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

Request the upgrade from Mercury. You'll need to be at v7.51. 7.6 comes with a service pack that needs to be installed first. I don't think that the general release is out yet.

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

It's been a little while, so I'd like to come back to this topic. For any of you that have been using 7.6 for a little bit, are you finding new functionality a definite improvement?

Please note some goods/bads of using the newer version if you have any.

    Thanks!

    Re: Upgrade to 7.6?

I went ahead and installed LR 7.6 and after about a week and a half, I'm already wishing I hadn't.

    Improvements noticed thus far:
    1. Recording works on XP now.
    2. Analysis Tool imports data from .xls files (haven't tried it yet though)

    De-provements (problems) noticed thus far:
    1. Strange "Out of Memory" errors on the controller if it sits idle for a while after running a test (memory leak?) So far only a reboot fixes the problem.
    2. A new controller crashing error (has happened 2 times in 5 runs so far) having to do with OnlineMonitor and perflib I think.
    3. VUGen replay is extremely slow for me. Nobody else has mentioned this yet, so maybe something weird is happening. This never occurred on 7.51.
    4. Loading large scripts/scenarios from TD seems even slower than it did before.
