Using WinRunner scripts to create LoadRunner vUser scripts
I have been testing a web based application (from a functional point of view) and have been using WinRunner to automate the testing process.
I now have a number of WinRunner scripts that play back typical business processess.
I am now turning my attention to P and C testing and am using LoadRunner.
Is it possible and or recommended to use the WinRunner scripts to create LoadRunner scripts. If so how is it best to go about this.
Up to now I have been manually recording LoadRunner scripts.
Re: Using WinRunner scripts to create LoadRunner vUser scripts
This is really an "RTFM" kind of question. But the short answer is, yes, it's possible, but there are some limitations. The big one is that Winrunner scripts can only be run with 1 VU per machine. Winrunner scripts run in Winrunner's runtime engine when run from a LoadRunner load generator. Another one related to that is Winrunner must be installed on the load generator client.
Finally, Winrunner (TSL) and LoadRunner (C) have different scripting languages, as you must know, so the scripting tools aren't compatible and the scripts aren't compatible at all, despite what LoadRunner sales/marketing may seem to imply.
