Using LoadRunner to monitor Performance on IBM Websphere Web Server
I am going to be performance testing in a multi-tiered environment. The Webserver is IBM Websphere and the Web Application Server is IIS. To retrieve performance statistics on the IIS Application server, I know that LoadRunner can provide information through perfmon. However, can LoadRunner provide me any sort of performance statistics about the IBM Websphere Web Server running on a UNIX Sun Solaris OS?...Or am I going to have to use Solaris' vmstat, iostat, sar, and top functions?...Thanks, itshark.
Re: Using LoadRunner to monitor Performance on IBM Websphere Web Server
Mercury has a separate WebSphere monitor plugin for LoadRunner. This monitor allows you to monitor just about anything IBM has set up to be monitored in their product: RunTimeResources (MemoryFree, MemoryTotal, MemoryUse), BeanData, BeanObjectPool, OrbThreadPool, TransactionData, ServletEngine, Sessions, etc.
We have purchased the plug-in and now using it routinely. The alternative is to write a Java Servlet to capture the same data and monitor its output --- a DIY plug-in.
