Load Runner Support for CITRIX
Can anyone tell me if the ICA protocol is supported by Load Runner? We need to load test a CITRIX server.
The gist of the problem is that we are accessing the Informatica Client via CITRIX from overseas locations via a 256Kbps dedicated link and also from local locations via dial up (56K modems). The performance over the dial up (from local locations) is much better in terms of response times (in the order of 8 to 10 seconds), than the access over the link (from overseas locations) which is in the order of 35 to 45 seconds. The performance of other published applications on the CITRIX server is excellent. Which leads us to believe that the current Informatica set up on the CITRIX server may not be optimal. We therefore, want to conduct a series of load / stress / performance tests on the CITRIX Server and need to know if Load Runner supports the ICA protocol.
Re: Load Runner Support for CITRIX
There is no ICA client in LR 7.5, but one will be coming out soon. Check out the press release at http://www-svca.mercuryinteractive.c...402citrix.html
My experience with Citrix has shown that ICA's performnace is heavily influenced by network latency. Since ICA usually employs many small packets rather than fewer large packets, even what we might consider moderate latency (100-200ms) leads to relatively high repsonse times, depending on the complexity of the operations performed.
With that said, I'm sure there may be some tuning opporutnities that could improve performance.
