Running the Load Runner Script when the server is down
User prakashragit (firstname.lastname@example.org) posted:
we recorded a script using Vugen and run it through controller. It was
running fine when the server was UP and showed the response time. But
when U try to run even when the server is killed it showed the test
passed and similar response time.
in both the cases the actions transaction response time is recorded
can anyone help us out why the script runs successfully even when the
server is down? how do we differentiate the validity of the scripts?

Another guess. When you end your transaction, my guess is that LR_AUTO is used to determine the pass/fail status of the transaction. I have seen (on more than one occasion) a preference for a LR_PASS status if the end transaction statement is processed. Perhaps you need some explicit code in your VUser to terminate the user if the server is down (to avoid errant stats) or some conditional logic around the end transaction statement, where you decide in the script to either pass or fail the transaction based upon a return code from a previous statement.
