SAP functional test estimating
User selphwj (email@example.com) posted:
I am trying to appease a possible client with estimating techniques.
They are implementing three modules with SAP and maybe within a year
they will add HR.
Here are their questions: What is the typical number of functional-
level scripts for three SAP modules? (maybe you can comment on what
coverage level is prudent)
What is the typical build time for screens (assuming using ASTRA
quicktest for R/3; easy, medium and hard complexity levels)?
Thank You, Bill Selph

You can not use Astra QuickTest to test an SAP app. You need to use
WinRunner QuickTest Professional for R/3. With that said, you need to find
out what are the business processes that will be used and which one are
mission critical - if they do not work people will not get paid,
productivity drops or halts, etc. The number of business processes will tell
you the number of scripts you need. I usually use 1 script per business
process and use the data table to vary the data. I would say that it takes
about 1/2 day to create, debug, parameterize and build the data table for a
R/3 script. I found that at times I could create 4 in a day.
