    IP Spoofing?

    User hueylee62 (hueylee62@yahoo.com.nospam) posted:

    Hi,

Our load balancer is IP based. Can the IP wizard in Load Runner used
to generate valid internet address (not the internal use 192...) to
hit the load balancer across the internet? The books-on-line seems
to indicate that only internal address can be generated.

    Thanks,
    Huey

any valid IP addresses can be used. If you can outside IP address then you
can use it but you need to be able to verify that the IP addresses are valid
and can be used to surf the internet.

    Re: IP Spoofing?

User Richard At Lee Systems (richard@leesystems.com.nospam) posted:

The answer is an IP address that is used, is going through [your] DNS
machines that must route the fake ip addresses from your test subject back
to your LoadRunner Host Machine. So, typically, you cannot spoof outside
your local network because a 'real' ip address will be returned from the
test subject to the 'real' ip address owner, across the world to another
machine which is not your LoadRunner Host Machine.....

Read through a good TCP/IP book such as the Microsoft Networking with
TCP/IP book. It will explain packets and how they are routed to and from
    locations with their header information....

The key is updating the routing tables with the spoof addresses. This can
only be done with machines that you control.

If you follow the documentation exactly, you should be able to get it
working. If it still isn't working, call Mercury Tech Support.
