    404 errors in replay

    User (matthew_jackson@virginmoney.com.nospam) posted:

I am recording a script (LR6.5, context sensitive) and then replaying
it straight away. While running I get a Step message : 404 - Not
Found error message even though the web pages have not changed. The
script passes and I get the required data sent back and forth, but
the error is still reported at the same step whenever i re-run the
script. I have found an article in the knowledge base which says that
the context sensitive method is more sensitive than HTTP. Anyone know
why I should be experiencing these errors when replaying the script
    straight after recording it??
    Thanks in advance.

If you are getting a 404 message and it appears the web page is loading correctly, the problem is probably due to a "GIF" (or other image format) that is referenced in the html, does not exist in the stated location. Turn advanced logging on and check the "Data Returned From Server" option and replay the script. You will see exactly which HTTP request is getting the 404 error.

are you using dynamically generated URL's? If not, you should manually program a simple script to get the URL or object you are having problems with. iterate the script continuously to get a consistent result (if the URL of the object is static then it should either pass or fail consistently). Open a browser and do the same. If automated and manual results differ, there is likely to be a problem with the setup of LR.

    hope this helps.
