SSL caching and first/last byte measurements

I have 2 questions please.
1. I am load testing a secure page via https. I don't know if "SSL
session key caching" is taking place during these load tests. I'm
simulating a new user for each iteration of my test.
2. Is there a way to measure the "first byte" and "last byte" times
required to load a page. I am assuming that the current load times
reflect the "last byte" case. Is this assumption correct?
