    Performance testing of Secure sites

    User (deeps_sankar@yahoo.com.nospam) posted:

    When performing testing of a secure(https) site, i could not playback
    the recorded script. Images are not displayed when playing back and
    the navigation does not take place.

    Is there any specific settings changes to be made for Secure Sites??

    for 7.0 you need to select WinInet replay instead of Sockets on the

    Usually, if WinInet replay is the problem, it will come in a message in
    the exectuion log. Try Placing this statement at the top of the script
    web_set_sockets_option("SSL_VERSION", "3");

    I slected WinInet replay, and was able to execute the script

    Is there any specification for the recording mode(HTML/http) in
    Secure Sites??

    What do you mean by "images not displaying"?!

    If you can get through (i.e. login), -
    means the replay is OK.

    Do not rely on the RunTime Viewer. It is for
    debugging purposes only!
    Look at the execution log. Use verification functions.

    Use winsock replay _only_ in case there is
    an NTLM or SOCKS proxy mechanisms are used.
    Otherwise it will not change anything.

    In the site in which perforamnce testing is done, navigation is by
    clicking on image links. And the script was failing, giving an error,
    matching image not found.
    In the run time viewer, none of the images in the site are displayed.
    So i understand that is the cause for failure of the script.
    Any clue as to why the images are not displayed?

    I understand that you use the HTML recording mode. There are a few other ways to figure out if the image(s) is/are downloaded:
    * verif checkpont
    * enable the DataReturnedByServer and look for the image in the ExecLog

    In case the images are displayed/downloaded using javascript (other scripting), - in the RT viewer enable the scripting (you'll find it in the menues there).

    P.S. It is kind of strange, - why do LR users
    prefer to post to maillist rather than to
    call mercury's support? What is your experience with the support? Weren't they able to provide you with the solution?

    Re: Performance testing of Secure sites

    u can try replaying the script using extended log (data returned by server) in the playback settings. this will tell you whether the image is actually being sent back and the run-time viewer is simply failing to render the image.
