The main issue is that your application must be written in Java.
There's no support specifically for GIOP and so you must resort to
winsock. The best thing to do is get with the Mercury folks and see
if your situation is supported.
As it happens we're working a PB app using IIOP and are dissecting
the various buffers according to the OMG specification found @ www.omg.org. It's a treat...glad I grok hex. Gotten a great
education on interpretting IEEE 754 floating point numbers - even
wrote a junior varsity routine to convert them to strings since C
doesn't include one in the standard libraries.
