You are incorrect about needing the host and controller to be operating on
different machines. You should have a developer or server class machine. A
normal corporate desktop machine is not appropriate for LoadRunner. No
matter what machine you use, you must monitor NT's Task Manager Resources,
and as long as you are below full CPU utilization and the physical RAM
usage, you are fine with the result statistics. Throughput on the network
interface card is far less, in most cases, than the CPU and RAM usage, so
your typical host/controller bottleneck is usually the RAM and CPU. Should
you want to assure that the network/nic is not an issue, use a sniffer.
When I have used sniffers, a 100 megabit LAN connection is nowhere near
