Am still not sure how this works. Am just playin around, testing
sites like yahoo.
I did check the performance graphs, created 25 vUsers.
Am really not sure whether LR created a load of 25 users on the
yahoo's website server and stressed it for real.
was wondering....how would sites like yahoo allow me to stress thier
website...probably if i create 10000 vusers..??
Plz do let me know on this..coz my concern was I have just 1 host and
1 dsl line here and could really stress the websites?

I assure you that if you recorded a script directly against www.yahoo.com

Again the question ... Why do you want to 'stress' yahoo? Is this to some
purpose other than an attempt at DOS attack?
Really, the intent of LR is not to generate large volumes of transactions
against someone else's site. Mercury has a tool called ActiveWatch that
provides a 'production monitoring' function across the WWW.
I suspect that if you 'stressed' Yahoo with 10K users, they would have the
officials after you pronto!

It is not likely that LR running on one machine is going to have much impact
on a scalable site like Yahoo.Com. If you think about it, you have the
Vusers, and the Controller both running simultaneously on one machine, both
utilzing the same processor. Once the processor goes about 85% consistently,
the processor become the bottleneck -- not the webserver, the database nor
For smaller sites where there is maybe one webserver, user >25 vusers may
give you an indication of the sites performance, but again, only if the
processor utilization remains low can you make some inferences.
To really scale up correctly, you would likely need the controller running on
one machine and the vuser running one seperate machine(s) depending on how
many you wish to run (see Mercury specs to find out what the footprint is for
