I am in the process of evaluating LoadRunner and looking for input on some areas.
What is the system (ie - what type of hardware does the controller, and all other components reside on - size, memory requirements, etc.) configuration that has worked best for you. Any information on teh hardware configurations that are used to facilitate the use of LoadRunner is greatly appreciated!
We are going to be using this to test an HTML front web page with SQL Server backend on an IIS infrastructure. Has anyone done something similar and would share their experiences?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
Personally, I've been working with many different configurations. I'd recommend to have a Controller installed in NT machine (either 4 on 2K). The machine can be quite weak - P166 with 64 mB will be quite enough.
Load generators: In case of HTTP vusers I wouldn't recommend to use UNIX flavours (AIX/HP/Linux/...). Take another NT machine(s). 4 or 2K - the choice is yours. In case you have a powerful multiCPU machine or/and more than 3GB of RAM - install a server version of NT.
LAN - ant TCP/IP network (Ethernet/TokenRing) is Ok. Don't use any slow connections (ISDN128/modem).

As far as your controller requirements go... If you are going to do any substantial ramp up of vusers then I would suggest at least 256Mb of memory. If you are going to do more than 500 vusers at a time then you might want to go even higher.
