    Agent

Can the agent that LoadRunner uses be separated from the rest of the app? In other words, pending licensing issues, if I want to just get the agent on another machine, without installing the software (like with Segue's or Rational's agent) can I do this? Is there just one or two files that can easily be copied?

    Yes.

Choose custom install and select only the agent.

    Re: Agent

LR - thank but there's no option for just installing the agent. That was the first thing I tried. This is with LR5.02 and 6.0

    Re: Agent

I was not aware of just an agent install but LoadRunner does not use an "agent" in the same sense as the other tools. It uses a remote launcher and a port mapper. I think the files on the local machine that control this are:

    miccomm.ini
    tcpnet.dll
    windde.dll
    rcmdl.exe
    rcmd.exe

There might be others but those are the main ones. You *could* copy those on another machine, but, on the other hand, I am not sure Mercury would be too thrilled with that solution.

I am referring to LoadRunner 5.0x with the above information; as far as I know it should apply to 6.0 as well but take that with a grain of salt.

    Re: Agent

    1) Start the installation
    2) Select Custom type of installation
    3) Select DB type only.

You can install as many agents as you want.
