    Question LoadRunner COM/DCOM protocol, CoInitializeSecurity error message

    Hi,

    First time working with a non-web based protocol in LoadRunner and we need help.

    We are getting the following error message when trying to replay a recoreded COM/DCOM Protocol script

    Error from Action.c (8) : CoInitializeSecurity : Security must be initialized before any interfaces are marshalled or unmarshalled. It cannot be changed once initialized.

    The erorr ocurrs on the following function:

    {
    lrc_CoInitializeSecurity(EOAC_NONE, NULL,
    RPC_C_AUTHN_LEVEL_NONE,
    RPC_C_IMP_LEVEL_IMPERSONATE,
    CHECK_HRES);
    }

    Any ideas what is the meaning of this and how to fix this?

    Thanks!

    As you are using DCOM, presumably you have access to the developers of the application and the source code to be able to set the filters appropriately. Have you asked the Developer of the application?

    hi jpulley3,

    Thanks for your reply!

    I am not sure about the developers and the source code. This application is very old and changed hands a few times. I have a system admin that manages application installation and the App server and DB server side and I have access to both servers as well.

    Can you also please elaborate what you mean by 'set the filters appropriately'?

    Thanks!

    Read the documentation for DCOM virtual user regarding filtering. Unless you have access to the application source and the application developers your odds of success approach zero rapidly with DCOM. This is true for a new user of LoadRunner as well as someone with two++ decades of experience with the tool. The filters are the key and you need someone conversant with the source to help set those items
