LR Controller - balancing vusers across multiple load generators
Didn't realize how pampered I was by Performance Center's auto-vuser balancing across load generaotrs until I moved to an environment without Performance Center.
Now I'm frustrated because I could swear that there is a way to force the controller to balance vusers across the 4 vusers scripts that I am using, instead of setting up multiple groups for each scenario and assigning one generator to each, which is not helpful in the 30 group scenario I'm looking at .
Seems like there's something basic I'm forgetting, can anyone help clear the cobwebs please?
I wouldn't say it's a shortcut but here's how I do it:
In the Design tab of the Controller, I highlight the group I want to spread out across different load generators and click the Virtual Users icon (second from the left, looks like two tiny persons in the icon) just above the list of groups. The Vusers list for the group pops up. If I have, say 500 vusers I wish to spread across 4 load generators I will highlight the first 125 and click Details. There I select the load generator to use for these vusers. Repeat for number 126 through 250, and so on. When having assigned all the vusers I renumber them several times to mix them up (to avoid having all vusers from load generator 1 start running before load generator 2 users start). To renumber the vusers, right click in the list of vusers in the dialog and select Renumber.
Cumbersome? Yes. Is there a better way? Not that I know of - but I would be happy if somebody pointed out some mystical means to do this automatically.
Thanks for the idea! I've just been putting one generator per group and then copy / pasting down the Generator column on the Design screen, your method should distribute things much better, though with 400 Vusers will be a bit tedious .
Hah, you should look at our scenarios which are micromanaged .. if first user goes on LG1, 2nd goes on LG2, 3rd goes on LG3, fourth on LG4 etc.. (I know.. you guys are saying WHY??.. its a long story..soemthign to do with spreading load evenly..)
