LoadRunner 11 and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Service Testing
We are using LoadRunner 11. In one of our application, we have excel templates which are used to generate custom reports. These excel templates fires MDX queries to MS-SQL Server Analysis Service(SSAS). We could not capture any events from Excel templates using LR. So i am thinking of firing/executing these MDX queries on SSAS server. Have someone done SSAS perf testing using LR. It would be really helpful if you can share your experience.
Thanks a lot in advance
Capture the queries from the SQL Server log and then reproduce them in proper form with the SQL interface of your choice and support (DBLIB, ODBC, OleDB....)
Architecturally, reduce what Excel is doing to a connection method and an API. THis should help you isolate what is happening to attempt to capture. If you cannot capture then work with your SQL Admin to capture your queries from logs and reproduce them programmatically
Looking at your posting history your bias on technology appears to be on the automated functional side of the house. This solution is likely to require the skills of a performance specialist, particularly one with a history in two tier client server database. Keep that in mind. Lead times for these resources on a project basis can be lengthy, so plan accordingly.
