Windows Resources Monitor and Windows 7
OK, searched for the dang questions needed for a new posting, but my blind eyes failed to find the list, so I grabbed some of the questions from a couple of posts that I have read and will use them.
1. What version of LoadRunner (LR) or PerformanceCenter (PC) are you using?
LR 11.52 (and PC 11.52)
2. What is the protocol you are recording?
Web/HTTP - Rich 2.0
3. If HTML - are you using HTML-Advanced with URLs or,
(indicate yes/no) Using mixture of URL & HTML
4. If URL mode:
- Concurrent groups, or
- Without Concurrent groups?
(indicate which) Playing with both
5. Which LoadRunner/PerformanceCenter feature (FPs) or service packs are you using?
6. VuGen Recording - are you using Old or New Recording Engine?
7. What kind of LoadRunner license do you have -
Permanent Web 2.0 250/Templates 200/Database 200/COM 100
8. If subscription, is subscription current or expired?
Current for LR and in process of renewing PC
9. What platform(s) (PCs) and Operating Systems (Windows-XP, etc.)? Include version and service packs (SP1 or 2, etc.)
Windows 7, SP1
10. If you have filed a service request with HP/Mercury, what have they told you at this point with respect to your issue?
I have the controler installed on a Windows 7 (Enterprise) w/SP1 (4 - dual processor 2 cores Zeon x64 system) and a Load Generator on a server machine running Windows 7 (Enterprise) w/SP1 (16 - dual processor 4 cores Xeon x64 system). I setup a scenario, connected the Load Generator and ran the test just fine. I than attempted to setup a Windows Resource monitor to monitor the Load Generator. I do not have any luck finding Windows 7 in the Platform listing dropdown and I have tried most of the ones there to see what will work and end up with a locked up controler except for WINXP. With WINXP, I get "Cannot connect to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (machines IP), Access is denied" errors. Hence, I am assuming that the WINXP is the closest to the correct selection (The list has the following in it: WIN2000, WIN2003, Windows 2008, Windows Vista, WINNT, WINXP).
If XP is the correct selection, I need to figure out how to fix the "Access is denied" error. I have not been able to figure out how to get in and provide credentials, if that is the case.
Has anybody else run into this Windows 7 and credentials issue?
I am now on the Load Generator machine looking for the PerfMon stuff to see if it is on that end also.
Try use Windows 2008, if your LG in another network this may be a problem
Thank you. I will give 2008 a try. Both systems are on the same network, but was a bit surprised when I found the WorkGroup settings for them somehow got changed. One is set to the correct WorkGroup setting and the other is set to "WorkGroup" which most likely is the culprit. Will followup with results once the WorkGroup settings are correct.
Updated/changed the controller machine to set the WorkGroup setting the same as the Generator machine. Still getting the "Access Denied" error. I am now looking at the Generator machine PerfMon to see if I need to do any permission changes on it, and doing some google searching for PerfMon permission setting info. Also going back through the LR documents to see if I missed anything on the install and configuring.
Finally figured it out............
I went into Users Rights/Permissions and assigned the Perfromance Monitor rights to my logged in user. That, combined with Windows 2008 platform setting now has me being able to monitor the load generator resources. Thanks for the gentle nudge in the right direction.
