To Generate LR script For Content Publishing/Mgmt Apps Effectively
The requirement is to load test all the associated page resources (gif,png,js,css etc. ) of a home page "http://HomePage.com" for every weekly release (for a Content management/publishing application).Only the Page resources of the home page "http://HomePage.com" vary during every release.
Hence I do not want to generate/ record the script for every release as only the page resources would change.
Things I tried:-
1) I commented out all the page resources under EXTARRES as below ;
2) Enabled the "Download non-html resources" option in the Browser Emulation Runtime Settings.
When I replay the script, I do not see these 2 page resources ( http://subdomain.com/ImageOne.png, http://subdomain.com/ImageTwo.png ) in the replay log.
Could anyone please advise why this one is not working? Do I miss something ?
When I run same script by uncommenting these 2 page resources under EXTARRES I can see the these 2 page resources.
Move up one layer in recording to HTML mode recording. Then the page will be parsed and whatever is in the HTML for the base page will be requested and downloaded. When you are operating in URL mode you are bypassing the page parser in a more explicit fashion. In doing so you will us fewer resources per virtual user and will be able to run more virtual users per host before you exhaust the resources on your load generator. The tradeoff for the lower weight users is no dynamic parsing of the page.
When you comment out the extra resources you are telling LoadRunner not to request this. And because you are in URL model (WEB_URL) and no html mode the parser is not invoked to automagically request these items on your behalf in the case of your dynamic page content.
Thanks a lot for your response.
I would give it a try.
