Load Generators for SharePoint 2010 document uploads
We are planning some load testing via the SharePoint Web Interface which will involve uploading documents ranging in sizes up to 100MB. Normally using the web protocol you can run a large number of Virtual Users from each load generator (ie 500+) but as these users will also be uploading large documents I'm guessing the number of users per generator would substantially reduce. Has anyone done similar load testing before involving uploading documents and if so could you please share your experiences on an approximately number of users per generator. I know there are other factors involved such as the specs of the generators so I'm only after a rough guide on how resource hungry the virtual users will be and how this is likely to impact the number I can run per generator
Keep an eye on your bandwidth, as well (always a good practice anyway!).
If your data files are really large, you may also want to consider placing them in a common location on your LG (rather than a file within the script folder) so that they don't have to be pushed out to the LG every time you start your test.
