Vugen - How Extrares is executing?
In Vugen if we are recording in HTML mode (Web protocol), Extrares will be recorded as part of web_url (first main url then Extrares). Can someone confirm whether both main URL and Extrares are exeuting parallely or Extrares will execute after main url. I have observered that sometimes we need to correlate values in Extrares. I need to place the web_reg_save param function just before the web_url which contain the same Extrares. So I am confused whether Extrares is executing after main url.
I have checked in Vugen Tutorial but not much info on Extrares.
Loadrunner version - 11.0
Protocol used - Web
License - Permanent.
Thanks in advance,
According to this thread the answer is yes they do execute in parallel. HP Communities - VuGen EXTRARES - Basic Questions - Enterprise Business Community
"In the case of and HTML script the calls from the EXTRARES section are made in parallel or multi-threaded."
I would think the EXTRARES should execute in parallel because in a real world situation when you go to a web page that's how it works. I.e. the web page loads all the parts in parallel and not one after another.
If your web site make use of asynchronous mode of request, then it works different here. You can comment or remove these request in EXTRARES, if you dont want to measure impact of non-html based resources.
If you do want to include the EXTRARES and they need correlating - which does happen) then you would need to use an URL based script - the EXTRARES are all in separate requests - they can be combined in concurrent groups though
In my case I have scripted in HTML mode and I Have correlated the value in Extrares. I have captured the dynamic values just above the request which has the Extrares. That is the reason I am thinking Extrares is executing after the main url, not parallely.
