LoadRunner 11 Scripting issue with .Net Framework

    Hi All, Guru's,

    I am using LoadRunner 11, PC 11.
I am trying to record an Microsoft.Net Framework GUI application (Windows application) with LR11.

The LR Protocol advisor does not recommend any protocols even if i recoreded a long business transaction.

I have tried to use Microsoft.Net protocol with scripting language as C# in the Recording options. The events gets recorded but fails at the replay.

Please guide, if i am using the wrong protocol or if i am missing something.

    Any advise will be helpful.

    Thanks.

Have you correlated everything that needs to be?

    I suspect not.

I dont think, coorelation is required for windows based application. It is not a web based application.

    Any advise or suggestions.

Is it communicating with XML? If so it may be possible to construct a Web script for it.

Have you tried WinSock? What does the communication look like using WinSock?
Unless you are writing a compiler, strtok is NOT the answer.

Re: LoadRunner 11 Scripting issue with .Net Framework

    Hi Russel,

I see some XML syntaxes in the VuGen recordings that i recorded using Microsoft .Net protocol. The Script does not replay. Any guesses , why?...

It is .Net Desktop Windows application.

Winsock is not recording the events.

Anyone who can provide the advise.

    Thanks.

So, are you suggesting that thick clients do not pass values back and forth and that this is only a function of web technology based clients?

Re: LoadRunner 11 Scripting issue with .Net Framework

    James,

It could be possible. I mean most of the windows based GUI application dont require coorelation. That is limited to my experience.

I dont have experience scripting in Microsoft .Net GUI Applications.

I have tried to use Microsoft.Net protocol with scripting language as C# in the Recording options. The events gets recorded but fails at the replay.

Looking out for inputs that can help me go further.

    Thanks

Record the application twice and then diff the scripts. You need to handle things that are changing from record to record.

Your experience is a poor guide in this case. Correlation falls into one of four different categories,
    <ul type="square">
    [1]Session
    [2]State
    [3]time
    [4]Business Process Data[/list]
If you look at just about every protocol in LoadRunner, including the ones dedicated to "thick clients" there is an API for collection of data returned from the server for correlation purposes. I would say that your assumption is at the root of your replay issue.

    Hi Raj,

Try recording using combination of Citrix_ICA and Windows Socket protocols.

    Thanks,
