What\'s your strategy for opening srch results? ...

I'm using LR 11 and doing some Web testing. I want to search for claims using a date range, that's no problem.

Then I would like to actually open a claim. I've been doing this in Citrix so I would always just open the first claim in the results. Citrix scripts being GUI based made this easy.

But how should I correlate a Web script to deal with a search result that could result in 1, 5, or even 20 results? I don't care too much what claim I open, just that I open one.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has dealt with this. ;-)

I'm pretty sure I worked with this scenario some time ago, but I've been pretty sidetracked with Citrix for a while.

    Thanks very much in advance,
    Chris

Issue a web_reg_save_param() to collect an array of possible returned results with an ORD=ALL flag.

Next, calculate a random number between 1 and <your param name>_count

Build a String of '{<your param name>_<your random number}') and use this as part of a lr_eval_string() for the next step selection to select the random claim.

Thanks, James. I figured the elegant way was to step through the results set, but wasn't sure how to best approach it.

I'll tinker with this. Thanks again, Sir!! :-)

You can also make use of one of the in-built function in LR. Please refer to lr_paramarr_random to handle this.

Does Web_reg_save_param function works with Citrix protocol ?
I mean - what we are getting back from citrix servers are the bitmaps - how can we extract values from that bitmap into an array ?
Can someone explain the procedure - if it works ?

BTW, I have used web_reg_save_param function extensively in then HTTP protocol - and am quite familiar with all the custom codes etc for it.

    thanks for your time

Re: What\'s your strategy for opening srch results? ...

    Jim,
I read his post now -- I was searching for citrix issues and saw this post. I am working on project which involves lot of complex citrix scripts. I was wondering if we can use WRSP in citrix that will make our lives much easier. We have to use so much custom programming to do simple things in Citrix.

    thanks for your reply

Work with your trainer and your mentor to enhance your architectural understanding of what is being interrogated and stimulated with a virtual user for both Web and Citrix. With a better architectural view of the client stack your answer should become self evident.
