Testing Client server applications in LoadRunner 1
Can you help me?
I have a .Net application in site
Of course, if I type the above address, I do have access to it.
The question is:
To be able to test it with LoadRunner 11, what do I need to include in the LoadRunner input screen?
I have tried to add it as a Web application,
Typing the address as URL address
But whenever I execute the login, I get the error message that the application could not be found.
Obviously, I am typing wrong data. What should I enter?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Testing Client server applications in LoadRunner 1
By virtue of the questions you have asked you are going to need a lot of assistance to tackle a .net thick client virtual user.
Use a protocol analyzer, look at the protocols your thick client speaks. If none of those match up to options in LoadRunner, then you are going to be headed one of three routes
* .Net thick virtual user development. Painful. Time unpredictable. You will spend lots of hours on the phone with second tier support. Same issue with all vendors tools because of the rate of progression with .Net versus the rate of progression of tool vendors.
* Citrix or RDP virtual users. Predictable model but not ideal
* Prayer. You will head to production and have many sleepless nights until the warranty period expires and the performance issues are someone else's problem.
In case you were wondering, the last option is the most expensive because the time and resources required to fix the problem immediately in production have the highest possible direct and opportunity costs.
.net is not a path you want to go to without a cultivated architectural eye, and if heading down the first path you will need a refined set of .net development skills with Visual Studio.
