I have a customer that is having performance issues when running client-side applications on a VMware machine that has multiple Windows XP instances on it and they would like to setup a performance test across those instances using the LoadRunner QTP virtual user license (which we have).
My question revolves around monitoring the Windows XP instances for performance, I/O, etc. How is this accomplished? I know LR can monitor Windows NT servers, but can it monitor Windows XP (possibly in conjunction with the QTP Vuser) and VMware?
Re: LoadRunner monitor Windows XP VMware instances?
You will need to get reliable statistics directly from the hypervisor about true resource utilization. VMWARE supports an SNMP interface and (I think) a terminal interface. Anything inside of the VM is completely suspect
