How to record pocket PC application in Loadrunner
I want to load test a pocket PC application. We start this
emulator(MS ActiveSync) using the .Net framework wizard. Once the Emulator is
started it deploys the application on a virtual directory(this directory is
not recognized by loadrunner) and from this directory Pocket PC application
is started. I want to know how to go ahead with the Perfomrance testing for
such application ? Which protocol to use ?
Re: How to record pocket PC application in Loadrunner
Either this is an incredible endorsement of the depth of talent available at SQAForums or a scary perspective on what has happened to the knowledge set internal HP. You work for Hewlett Packard, the manufacturer of LoadRunner. At least during my term with Mercury, the combined knowledge set of development and professional services could have exceeded that which is available in this forum. That you came here for support, rather than to answer questions, is curious indeed.
Use a protocol analyzer and observe what is coming out of the application. It does not matter whether the directory deployed is virtual or not, because LoadRunner will not record the directory, the emulator is your application that you would record against. If your protocol stream is HTTP based (as determined by the protocol analyzer) and you still cannot record the app, then take a look at the options available in the manual for recording UNIX application conversations using a man-in-the-middle proxy solution.
