    How can I simulate lunch breaks via LoadRunner

    Has anyone created a loadrunner script simulating a users lunch time (45 mins) or breaks (15 mins). If so, can you please share the knowledge.

    Thanks.

    Never did.. but if the requirement demands it, you can simulate the breaks - np.. LR 9.x version makes it very convenient with its "Real Time" Scenario Run Mode .. where you can define your own schedule - rampup, down, up, down as the case may be.

    Hello!

    What will happen during lunch break? Nothing? To simulate "nothing" you do no need LoadRunner. Just stop the scenario and you will enter the lunch break phase.

    Instead of complete stopping -

    1 -- use the pacing as high to stop all the users to stop doing any activities on the App

    2 -- Make the Vusers to come down to 0 and then ramp up again after some time.

    Re: How can I simulate lunch breaks via LoadRunner

    it's unlikely that all users will go for breaks/lunch etc at the same time...

    I take it this is during an extended soak test

    I'd be tempted to write some thing that looked at a the amount of time after the start of the test, at the end of each iteration, and randomly decide to go for breaks, lunch depending on that

    ie

    intBreak = rand()%2;

    if (90 minutes from start of test and not had break && intBreak)
    {//go on break
    lr_think_time(900);
    intHadBreak = 1;
    }
    else if (180 minutes from start of test and not had lunch && intBreak)
    {//go for lunch
    lr_think_time(2700);
    intHadLunch = 1;
    intBreak = 0;
    }
    else if (360 minutes from start of test and not had break && intBreak)
    {//go on break
    lr_think_time(900);
    intBreak = 1;
    }

    You may also get the system time instead of duration of the test. That way you can pause those users at lunch break e.g. 12noon - 1pm.

    you could but that would assume that you are starting the test first thing in the morning - maybe you are maybe you're not
