A 500 error in a .net asp/x environment typically results from the following
<ul type="square">[*] Incorrectly collected Viewstate. The viewstate is collected in the wrong location or is not long enough.[*] Incorrectly applied viewstate. An application can have multiple viewstates active at any given point. If the state management variable for screen A is applied to screen B then you can be almost assured of an error occuring[*] LoadRunner Script developer is not checking for correct return pages. An assumption is being made in the scripts that whatever page is returned is accurate. No web_reg_find() or web_reg_save_param() is used to pull and validate information on the returned screen for correctness. As a result the script will often continue and make a new request to an application which is in a different initial condition from the state required by the request. This will typically result in an almost instant return of a 500 class message.[*] You have a very small amount of test data. Script A is changing the state of the data used by Script B in such a way that it is no longer valid for Script B. [*] An actual application error (work with your development staff to diagnose)[/list]

Viewstates holds the state of the resources of the page. The resources whose value would be changing, you should correlate the viewstates linked to those resources which you know the user would be changing.
I had this issue 4 months ago. You can find very useful threads on this forum if you search for "viewstate". You may need to use "Convert=HTML_TO_URL", LAST" some times, depending on what's being returned from the server.
