Why is VUGen recording deprecated web_find()? ...

Why is VUGen recording the deprecated web_find() instead of web_reg_find() ?

I just uninstalled LR 8.1 and installed LR 9.5. I let LR find several updates and installed each of them.

Now I notice that when I record using the web/http protocol, highlight some text on a web page, and press the binocular toolbar button for a web text check, VUGen is placing the function web_find() in my code.

Not only is this a deprecated function, it's also failing to properly find the text when I run the script.

What can I do to fix this? Should I be doing something differently?

Thanks VERY much in advance,

Chris

No, Web (http/html)

And on the number of licensed vusers, 3500. Why would the number of users be relevant here?

Thanks,

It's the rule in the LoadRunner section of this forum:

* BEFORE YOU POST, BEGIN HERE * Plus Key Links *

But I would assume you're aware of this since you're not new here

You're serious? You nit-picked a minor oversight in my required answers that may have nothing to do w/ the problem?

Chris,

GJ is being a little harsh with someone that HAS actually been around for a while and is an active poster. In answer to your question about the license, we collectively are being very harsh on people who post here with nebulous licenses (read probably illegal).

To answer the question in your post, has this ever worked for you? I have never used this function. (I always add my wrf manually from server returns.)

It is quite possible that you are using a "feature" that no one else does and so it hasn't been updated in seven years!
Unless you are writing a compiler, strtok is NOT the answer.
See: http://www.sqaforums.com/showflat.ph...=541641#542222

QAF is still an exercise in self-sufficiency! (Thank JB!)

Ahhhh, I see. I couldn't get my hands around the problem. I can assure you this is a corporate environment and the license is most definitely legal. ;-)

For what it's worth, that issue bothers me as well, along with the folks looking for exam/certification answers online improperly.

Yes, I used to do this as a regular course of action in previous versions of LR, and I suspect many others do. Though I've never done it in LR 9.5x before, the previous versions it has worked for me on were 6.x - 8.1.

>>It is quite possible that you are using a "feature" that no one else does and so it hasn't been updated in seven

It's quite possible, thanks for the response to my post! ;-)

I did submit the question to HP, hope they hear back soon.

Thanks again,
Chris

Re: Why is VUGen recording deprecated web_find()? ...

Could be a bug in 9.5, doubt it though. I'm currently using 8.1 and the web_text_check inserts a web_reg_find. might wanna look around in the settings for "default text check function to use" - this is just a though i dont know if it exists or not - or in some config file buried in the LR installation folder.

as a workaround u can use Edit - Replace

Thanks, linkdotbiz. ;-)

Strangely enough, the last few scripts I've created ... it's actually inserting web_reg_find correctly. Quite odd. I've made no other changes, haven't even rebooted.

Re: Why is VUGen recording deprecated web_find()? ...

An update on this. I went back and removed LR again using the super-secret-special method.
http://www.sqaforums.com/showflat.ph...e=0#Post605466

I reinstalled LR 9.5 and installed the two patches bringing me up to 9.52. web_reg_find is indeed now getting added correctly with the web/http protocol. Though I'm still not clear on the proper method when using Web Click & Script. I'll discuss that in another thread later.

Here's an interesting note. I asked HP is after installing 9.5 I should run the included "Check for Updates" program. They recommended that I not do that but instead download the patches from the support site and install them manually.

Chris
