Moving QC databases
We are required to move our QC 9.2 SQL databases from 1 SQL server to another.
QC is set up on a web server, and the databases are on a dedicated SQL server (seperate).
I have previously migrated QC from 8.2 to 9.2, and TD7 to QC9 - so have plenty of experience migrating QC between versions, however this situation is different - same version.
The only way I think that this can be done is to reinstall QC (because of the web service and the qcsiteadmin database) and migrate the QC project databases as needed.
Now, if this is correct - I am pretty sure I have to uninstall the existing QC first.
Any other suggestions or options available?
Because this could turn nasty....
Re: Moving QC databases
Your assumption of needing to uninstall QC seems to be correct, but only since you will need to "create" a new siteadmin db on the new SQL Server. Unless you know how to migrate it manually, but this may be risky since there are internal parameters that may fail to match.
Regarding how to move the projects, if you don't have too many of them you may want to try something we did a couple of weeks back.
There is in the siteadmin the possibility to export your projects into a file, we exported all our projects and then imported them into our new server. As weird as it sounds this worked perfectly and simply, we were up and running in a matter of minutes (per project).
