QC Dissconnecting users after one hour
I have Quality Centre 9.2 installed and was running into issues where I did not have enough licenses to serve all our staff. I realised some users were logging in then sitting idle for hours if not days so I set the QC timeout to one hour. Everything was now fine licenses were rotated enough that all users where happy but now my issue is with how Internet explorer handles the timeout disconnect.
In some instances after leaving the session active for some time(e.g. when a list of bugs is on the screen) it will repeatedly give me the “You’ve been logged out” message - clicking OK just brings the same message back and it’s impossible to close the browser window… (Unless I hit the button really fast then Internet Explorer crashes completely!)
I provided a plug-in for the developers to use with Visual Studio which allows them to view defects through the Visual studio interface. I got the following feedback related to the timeout disconnect.
“I came in this morning and of course it’s been disconnected.
So I refresh the window thinking it’ll log back in… nope, still disconnected.
I closed the defect window and re-opened it thinking that might re-initialise, nope, still disconnected.
Go to Tools->Options->Mercury Quality Centre->Connect and it connects fine, hit Test Login and get a connected OK dialog, re-open the Defects List window… nope, still disconnected.
Unless there’s something I’m missing, this means anyone that disconnects can’t get re-connected without closing their entire IDE down and restarting it? “
Has anyone else came across the same issues with the automatic disconnect??
Re: QC Dissconnecting users after one hour
Hi. We also are running QC 9.2 and have experienced the problem you described in Internet Explorer. I'll post here if I find a solution but for now I have just told our users to be accountable and log out!
Good luck... and you are not alone!
