Is it possible for the QC site administrator to modify the QC username? If yes, it would be great if some one can share it
If you are using LDAP, then the QC Admin will not be able to change the username as it is driven by Active Directory.
If you aren't using LDAP, then you might be able to change it at the database level, but realize that you will have to change ALL entries stored with the previous name as it doesn't link to a reference, it actually places the name in the records.
I concur with Tony on the LDAP authentication. We had a tester change her last name, which changed her login to QC. Unfortunately, she still had tests checked out under her previous network login. We had to get the Engineers to reactivate the old network login until she checked those tests back in.
For non-LDAP, it will keep the old name in the association until that test, requirement, defect is accessed and then it QC will prompt for that field to be filled in with the proper informatin (if it is a required field of course).
I understand QC has both "User ID" (used when logging in QC) and "User Full Name" (Full name of the User) fields as to reserve your FYI. However, is there any way that the full name can be displayed instead of the User ID.
User ID = "AB01"
User Name = "Alice Balchad"
When "Detected by" populates, instead of showing "AB01" I would like to see "Alice Balchad"
No way to change it. One thing you can do, however, is create a user-defined string field that will hold the full name of ther user (i.e. "Detected by Name"). You will then need to update your workflow so that when the "Detected By" field changes, you lookup the full name of ther user and copy it to the "Detected by Name" field.
