I am using QC 8.2 Sp1. Recently I start to have this problem: When I try to generate word document from test plans, after clicking "Full Document" button, an error message pops up saying "Unable to start MS Word." Screen shot attached. Could anybody give some enlightment? Thanks.
Something to check, is when you get the error - acknowledge it and then go into your Task Manager to see if you have a rouge Word session running.
It has been a while since I've used DocGen, but I do remember an issue with Outlook where when the user had Word set for their email editor, if Outlook was running, they weren't able to create documents. They had to close out Outlook, create the doc, then restart outlook. Those that had the html editor as a default for Outlook wouldn't encounter the problem.
We had a similar problem with document generator in QC 9.2. What we found out was there was a problem with the document generator itself. It was not able to handle more than 9 subject headers in your requirements and test. We could select a few at a time and it would work fine. But when we tried to docgen a whole bunch of requirements, it would error out. QC 9.2 released a patch recently that fixed this problem for us. Perhaps 8.2 has the same issue.
