    Dashboard 9.2 Install errors

    I am getting an error that is preventing me from installing Dashboard 9.2

    The error is:
    Failed to check if schema 'HP_DASHBOARD_920' exists. exception message: [TDS Driver]Connection was closed from the SQL Server site or network at header (0)

    Exception:java.sql.SQLException: [TDS Driver]Connection was closed from the SQL Server site or network at header (0)Stack Trace:com.inet.tds.TdsDriver.acom.inet.tds.g.acom. inet.tds.g.acom.inet.tds.g.com.inet.tds.TdsDriver. connectjava.sql.DriverManager.getConnectionjava.sq l.DriverManager.getConnectioncom.mercury.install.u til.CUtils.DBExistscom.mercury.install.wizard.acti on.CheckDBExistanceWA.executecom.installshield.wiz ard.StandardWizardListener.executecom.installshiel d.wizard.StandardWizardListener.currentBeanChanged com.installshield.wizard.Wizard$RunThread.run

    Any suggestions on where to look or how to get more information about what is causing the error?

    Re: Dashboard 9.2 Install errors

    Sorry,
    Left out some (maybe) important details:

    DB = SQL Server 2005
    OS = Windows Server 2003 SP2

    Re: Dashboard 9.2 Install errors

    Could be caused by using named instance of SQL server - try this:

    On the database server, open the SQL Server Configuration manager, and click on the named instance under SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration. Right click for properties and set all 3 tcp ports to 1433, and blank out the TCP Dynamic Ports under IPALL. Restart the instance.

    Start the install, but when installing dashboard use only the IP of the Database server for the Server Name in the Database Server Settings window during the install.

    Re: Dashboard 9.2 Install errors

    Thanks for the info. You were very close to the solution I used.

    HP support got me past this one with the recommendation that I set a default port for the database then start the dashboard installation and enter only the server name in the "Database server name"( Enter as "servername" not "servername\instance" ) and specify the port given in the database as the port number in the advanced settings of the installation.
