Need to move \"Passed\" tests to another Test Set
I am in a total fix as I have made a big mistake while testing at work. We have started using Quality Center at work and I put all the Test Cases under default (Instead of creating a folder and then assigning the test cases to Test Sets). Everything went well. I am in a fix as I am unable to generate the test Runs from Document generator. The problem seems to be that the test cases are under default. I moved the default test set under a folder but am unable to rename it. Nor can I move the tests to another test set. Is there any way I can move them? Please help. This issue is kind of [stupid is as stupid does].
Re: Need to move \"Passed\" tests to another Test Set
There's no real way to do this in the tool. Your best bet is to edit the database directly to "move" your tests.
The trick is that data from Test Lab sits in a lot of different tables. Not only do you have the test sets, you have the test in each test set and all the run data associated with those tests.
Take a look at the OTA guide for detailed descriptions of what each database table holds. Then I strongly suggest you practice your approach on a test project to ensure you getting all the proper references updated.
Essentially, you'll need to create a new test set and get the database ID for that test set. Then you'll have to update all the table references to use that ID instead of the old ID for the default test set.
Hope this helps!
