Ok, here is the complete story - when I joined this company, the person handling the things was already releaved and the password was not stored anywhere. Now if change that using admin screen of QC, I am not sure if it affects the SQL server as well. Thats why I dont want to try it before knowing the impact.
I haven't performed the action you speak, so I can't say what will happen exactly, but something you might want to consider is working with your dbas to see if they can set it to a known password on the database side (if they did change it from the default password that is installed for the TestDirector user).
If you don't have a working relationship with the dba group, now might be a good time to start working on one.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
The pass word for the QC Admin and Admin site has nothing to do with the DB, if that's what you mean. There is a password for the DB which is set up by a DBA and it has to be entered into QC in the DB Server connect area. But there is only one DB password.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
