Please let me know how does Primary field and Secondary field in Workflow customization works.

These options are also used for lookup lists. Say you have a Primary field = Status and a Secondary Status field. You can choose to only display a specific list in the Secondary field depending on which Primary field is selected. For example, if a user selects 'Open' as the Primary status field, the secondary status field options could be 'In analysis' or 'In coding' but if the Primary status field is changed to 'Fixed' the secondary Status field options will change also to maybe 'Ready for Retest' or 'Pending Migration'.
You will have to set up separate look-up lists for each secondary field and then use the set-up workflow, list customization to link them together.
