    Get Folder from Quality Center

    I have currently made a framework in QTP which runs on the local machine .

    now i need to make it run from quality center as well. I do not want to make wholesale changes to my script .
    Is there any easy way of getting the entire folder structure from QC and save it to local .

    After i get this like this , how do i run it .

    i tried saving the whole framework in QTP and then running it from there . but i guess some paths are just too long for it get.it says bad path .

    Please help

    Re: Get Folder from Quality Center

    You can download files from QC. Try QC-OTA.

    What you could do is you could create folders/subfolders on the drives using vbs and download the appropriate files that are attached to a testset/testsetfolder etc...

    Keywords for OTA:-

    AttachmentFactory
    Attachment
    ExtendedStorage
    TestSetFolder
    TestSetFactory
    TestSet

    I believe you meant to say from QTP. Is that right?

    Since your framework is already set up in QTP, just save the QTP scripts to QC as you normally would. The paths are saved with the scripts. I think that is what you are asking.

    Re: Get Folder from Quality Center

    i have designed a excel driven framework for QTP . The Excel results along with the QTP results are created in the results folder . Now i need the excel results to be uploaded back into quality center.

    I used to run QTP on the local machine. And Excel results fine . But the requirement is to put the driver script in quality center , run it from ther. And get all the results uploaded. How do i go abt doin it ??

    Re: Get Folder from Quality Center

    you need to save the QTP script in QC and run it from there under the test set.

    I figured out the way to pick the file from local and save it under the results . Its the downloading part which i think - is not working.

    to save the attachment as the attachment of the test run , here is the code ...

    'File in file system to attach
    SaveAttachment "C:\BusServiceMVI_IT_OT_QTP8_081506.xls", "Test Description"

    Public Sub SaveAttachmentToTestObj(TestObj, LocalFilePath, FileDescription)
    Set Attachments = TestObj.Attachments
    Set Attachment = Attachments.AddItem(Null)
    Attachment.FileName = LocalFilePath
    Attachment.Description = FileDescription
    Attachment.Type = 1'TDATT_FILE
    Attachment.Post ' Commit changes
    End Sub

    ' This function saves an attachment to the current test (the test must be existing on TestDirector).
    ' LocalFilePath: Path indicating the location of the attachment on the local filesystem
    ' FileDescription: Description of the file (Description field on TestDirector)

    Public Function SaveAttachment(LocalFilePath, FileDescription)
    SaveAttachmentToTestObj QCUtil.CurrentTest, LocalFilePath, FileDescription
    End Function

    Hope this helps !!!

    Re: Get Folder from Quality Center

    Thanks for your valuable answer.But i have another doubt, do we need QTP-QC add in to be installed with QC to run the automated scripts from QC.I heared that we can do it with the help of code rather using add-ins in QC.If you a code for the same please share it with me.Please let me know on this.
