I have a quarry regarding Test Plan and Test Lab Migration from one Domain to another in Quality Center.
I uploaded Test Plan (TP) and Test Lab (TL) in a domain and now some of its modules are moved in other domain and Test cases and Test Plan and Test Lab are same. Now I want to migrate TP and TL of these modules from that Domain to new domain where there are required. I read that this functionality is available in Test Director but I don't know how to do this?
If any one can help me then I will be grateful. Itís a very [stupid is as stupid does] requirement. I am looking for a solution so that we can start our work as soon as we can.
Someone can suggest me that I upload all these TP and TL again in new domain but this is very difficult because again I have to capture all the Excel sheets and then upload these on QC. Previously this was looked after by someone else. Now I am looking this stuff in my company. So please guide me how can I migrate these?
Second Issue is of unnecessary usage of resources because if we upload these in other domain then we are using unnecessary memory usage. Because now these are not useful in previous domain and no use of existence of these test plan and test cases there.
As long as you don't need to bring across test results or keep a lot of links to requirements, there is a fairly simple process.
Open up two seperate copies of IE and log into both projects. Select your test plan folder, right click and select "copy", move to the other IE window select the folder in Test Plan in right click and "paste"
Note: that if you have a large number of test cases in a folder the paste may take some time and doesn't show anything happening. Be patient, take lunch, go to Starbucks. It will finish.
Why not just create a new project from the original project and have it copy all tests and history and everything possible?
Or if you are just moving the project from one domain to another, go to the Admin Site and drag & drop the project from the current domain to the new domain. You will get prompts to disable the project and once it gets where you want it you will get a prompt to turn it back on.
