I've searched the forum and didn't find an answer.
I have hundreds of test cases in QC. I have created function libraries through QTP that contain all the functionality of executing the test case. The test script for each test case will be identical other than changing a variable value to the corresponding testcase name. I'm looking for an easy way to create the test scripts. Current process is to create the test script through the design tab, open the test script through QC to QTP, copy the test script, change the value for the testcase name, update run settings, and save the test case. Not difficult, but when you have hundreds, it's monotonous. I've looked at templates, but that appears to be only useable by new test cases, not existing ones. I have the test cases in an excel spreadsheet, but the import tool does not appear to have a way of attaching a test script. I've tried opening the test case directly in QTP or save an existing test case as a new one, but receive error messages preventing me from doing so.
If, as you say, all of the scripts will be identical, then only write one script and drive it with a spreadsheet. Loop through the script and increment the row counter each time. It will save you a lot of grief.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
