First of all thanks to all the moderators for maintaining such an informative site. I have been reading and updating my knowledge from this site for a while now.
My question is Our company stopped using its custom built reporting tool and now we are working to implement Quality Center with Winrunner. I have created some test sets. The problems comes down to performance, If I run the whole test set (let say there are 10 test in test set) with QC the control jumps from QC to Winrunner completes the test and then goes back to the next and so on till all the test are completed, the problem with this kind of run is it reduces the performance, the execution of scripts takes too much time .
The work around I did was I included some call close statements in the first test to call the next test and thus control stays with winrunner and doesnt go back and forth from QC to winrunner. This increases the performance and work gets done alot faster but The problem with this kind execution is that in the results although we ran the whole test set with all the tests(all 10 that test set includes), but the results will show passed only one as we actually called all the tests with one script ( first test).
So i was wondering is there was a way to control all the tests from one script by calling all the tests in the test set from maybe the first test, still the results will show them as 10 tests were executed.
Any help, thoughts on this will be highly appriciated.
The automated test tools are good for redundant testing, and testing 24/7 with no potty breaks, but they do not always speed up the process. Your idea was what I would have done, however by utilizing the OTA interface, you can pass back a PASS or FAIL to the individual tests in the QC Test Lab.
