I configured the LDAP settings in the Site Administrator and tested the connection to confirm that it passes.Iused Anonymous Account However, when he clicks on the "Import" button to start the importation of users, the window dispaly Error message with lot of information about JavaServlet !
Do I need to connect to LDAP using Admin user by the option Simple Account?this is the suggested solution by MI but I am not convenced if QC doesn't work with Anonymous Account then why they have this option?
That is what we do here, is use the Option Simple Account. We had our network guys set up an NT account that never expires and never has to reset the password that is used to connect.
I remember that it took a lot of experimentation to finally get things to connect.
For my Directory Provider URL, i had to specify something like this: </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;"> "ldap://<server>.<domain_name>.com:389" ; </pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Also, you may need to preface the username in the Authentication Principal with the NT domain - like this: </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;"> <NT_Domain>\username </pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">I also noticed that I have an NTDOMAIN parameter under the Site Config tab. Cannot remember if this is a carry over from the previous version or if you need that for QC to connect.
One last thing, once you do get connected, you might not be able to see any trees or users in the active directory. The default filter that Mercury uses did not work for me, and I had to clear that and go with no filter.
No prob Chilly.
you do not need the ssl connection. The QC users that you already have will still exist in Test Director, but unless they will not be able to login because they are not in the Active Directory and cannot be authenticated on login. QC makes exceptions for users admin and guest. they do not have to exist in AD.
