Test Plan module: user fields conditional population
Under "Test Steps / User Fields" in Project Entities, I have created "Comments & Setups" field (type "Memo").
When executing test with Manual Runner, the field is visible as the tab-not-immediately-in-focus, and therefore is sometimes missed by the tester.
To indicate that particular Step has "Comments & Setups" filled out so that tester pays attention and opens it, I have created another User field - "Comments & Setups are there?" (type "String") which is displayed as a column in Manual Runner session.
In a Workflow, I want to set the following logic: if "Comments & Setups" not empty -> populate "Comments & Setups are there?" field with some string indicating so.
I tried to do this under DesignStep_FieldChange(FieldName) sub with the code:
if DesignStep_Fields.Field("ST_USER_07").value <> "" then
DesignStep_Fields.Field("ST_USER_01").value = "See comments and setups!"
... and under Step_FieldChange(FieldName):
if Step_Fields.Field("ST_USER_07").value <> "" then
Step_Fields.Field("ST_USER_01").value = "See comments and setups!"
Neither of those work: "Comments & Setups are there?" remains intact upon update of "Comments & Setups", test saving and check in to Version Control.
No, that's not an option, unfortunately.
"Comments and Setups" field is not very often used, most of the steps in our test plans do not need it. But once filled out, it usually has important info, which gets overlooked by executing tester because it is kind of hidden in the non-focused tab of Manual runner.
