Has anyone successfully unzipped and rezipped a QCP file since ALM 11.5x
Ok I am a relatively bright guy and I have performed many successful ALM upgrades. I am now running into an issue outside of my control.
I was provided a .qcp file from a cloud provider that shall remain nameless. I am assisting a client in navigating the process of taking this from the cloud to on-prem. After multiple requests I was finally provided with a .qcp file of the project. I realize it would be better if I had a db backup and repository zip but I am working with what I got.
So the question to the interweeb is has anyone been successful in extracting a qcp file and then rezipping it since ALM 12.5x?
If so what application or method did you use to do it.
I have tried a few and I get a failure to restore the project error. I have read that the .qcp file has an extra field that makes tools like 7zip and WinRAR not be able to re-compress.
Why do you ned to unpack and repack the QCP?
It's designed to make the project portable.
you've got two ALM versions mentioned. v11.5x in your topic and v12.5 in your message. Which one are you asking about?
I have had a play with the demo project QCP file for ALM 12.21 and by simply changing the extension to .zip I was able to examine all of the files inside using the zip explorer built into Windows Explorer in windows 10.
Since that's all I did to look at the data, I'm presuming that changing the extension back to .qcp will enable re-import.
