ALM Launching UFT Automated Tests
This is going to sound way out there, but I have a client with a particular "configuration" of their infrastructure within which they run UFT that I'm guessing will be problem. They currently don't have ALM but are preparing to purchase and implement ALM. Here's the scenario:
They have a "UFT Server" - a Windows 2008 R2 server. They have multiple users access and invoke UFT in separate sessions on this server. (rather than multiple clients). This works for them right now.
When they purchase ALM and store and launch UFT scripts from ALM, I think they will not be able to use this infrastructure. Here's my thinking ... because when a UFT script is launched in ALM you have to, by some means, offer ALM a machine on which to run UFT (using specifically, the machine name). I don't think ALM will be able to launch multiple UFT sessions on the server because there's only one machine name (the server name).
Has anyone seen such a scenario? Any comments or thoughts?
If they are using mstsc to access the server they can just check run locally and don't need to provide a machine name. I believe this works but I've not tested it as I only have access to desktop OSs which don't support multiple log ins.
