Is there any way the BG_DETECTED_BY field can be made blank when a defect is raised?
By default, this field auto-populates with the person who raised the defect.
I tried adding code below to the Defects_Bug_New sub routine but this has made no difference.
Why would you want to do this?
It defaults to [CurrentUser], but it isn't ReadOnly..
In one of our projects, the Detected By field is being used as the Business Owner field. The project owners don't want the Business Owner field to auto-populate when a record is created as the person who creates the record is sometimes not the same as the Business Owner. While I could use a user field instead of a system field to resolve this issue, it is not possible for automated email rules to trigger on user fields - these only trigger on the system fields BG_DETECTED_BY and BG_RESPONSIBLE. And while the BG_RESPONSIBLE field could be used as this doesn't auto-populate when a record is created, unfortunately we are already using this as the Assigned To field.
