HP ALM 11 Migration
we are in the process of migrating HP ALM 11 from server A (App) and Server B (Oracle 11gR2) to server A1 (App) and Server B1 (Oracle 11gR2) in a different datacenter and shutdown Server A and B. Other than the ip address, nothing else is changing.
We completed the migration and while starting the server, it complaints about Base_Repository_path.
Error Message : Server on servera1 has entered an unstable state. please contact your site administrator

. ALM - v10084: Critical error in licensing mechanisam. Possible cause is failure to access site repository (as defined by BASE_REPOSITORY_PATH)
ALM-V10117: Failed loading license file.
. ALM-V10100 Failed to initialize license service
So did you set up A1+B1, then migrated the projects from A+B?
The license file from A will NOT work on A1 - HP's license key is hardcoded to the IP/MAC (either one, not really sure which one), so no, you will not be able to use the same license key.
Best solution is to redeploy A1 (do the configuration wizard again), and select Evaluation under licenses. Then port the projects over, and in the meanwhile, request a new license file from HP, either via the licensng portal or through your vendor/partner.
Oh, and BTW, in case of upgrades of any kind, you can score additional temp full licenses from HP - only valid for 1 month, but still, good enough to carry you over the migration hurdle. This is different than the Eval licenses (which doesn't have a count), because HP actually gives you a Temp license (which has a count).
Hope that helps.
