    How to edit steps in QC 11

    In QC 11 I have to edit steps in a test. I have exported the test steps from excel to QC. In the design steps tab edit step is disabled even though step is selected. How to edit steps? New step is also disabled. How to add new steps?

    What patch level are you running? Find out by logging in the QC and selecting Help > About > Additional Information.

    Can you have a user with Project Administrator permissions for the project confirm that
    a) you have sufficient permissions to create/modify Design Steps in the Test Plan, and
    b) The project hasn't been configured to allow only the author/owner of an item to modify it?

    Re: How to edit steps in QC 11

    Hello Trudy

    I have the same issue. I can add edit steps, but when I delete one I can no longer do any edits. All buttons are grayed out. I have to add several empty steps (only active button available in that situation)to get the other buttons to respond again. We have currently release 11.0.0.4504.

    @testerindenver,

    The version digits (0.0.4504) don't tell me your patch level. From within ALM QC select Help > About and click the Additional Information button. That should display a screen that gives a patch number (i.e. 2, 4, SP3, etc.)

    I know that your version number doesn't match mine (0.0.7274), and I have Patch 9 loaded. That suggests you don't have the latest patch for ALM. If you open a case with HP support one of the first things they will tell you is to get the current patch loaded, so you can try that.

    Hi Trudy,

    I didn't find Help-->About-->Additional Information in Help menu. I have previleges to add and edit steps. Today without doing anything the New steps and Edit steps Menu item is enabled. Do u have any idea why it happens?

    See attachments for Help > About > Additional Info (button).

    Sorry, no, I don't have any ideas about why you might be having this problem. Here are a couple of other forums you might try, though.
