BPT far slower than QT tests when running
Hi there, I have Business Process testing set up and also Quick Test tests - they both make use of the same function libraries and ORs, yet the BPT tests take far longer than the QT ones to run. I realise there would be a slight time delay with using the business components but one of my test suites using BPT takes 51 mins to run, yet the same suite that I've created as QT tests, take only 13 mins to run. Is there anything I can do to streamline my BPT tests? Has anyone else experienced this?
Re: BPT far slower than QT tests when running
Yes, the BPT tests are very slow & this is due to the overhead in downloading the components from QC, Closing & loading the new components.
To alleviate this issue, the BPTWrapperTest feature was introduced in QC/ALM 11, where all the Components in a BPT test is downloaded to the Host Machine, at once & executed. I guess upgrading to QC 11 is the only way out, other than moving to a pure QTP based approach.
But I have read about few issues around the BPTWrapperTest as well.
We are yet to upgrade our BPT projects to ALM, but I am already thinking about moving away from it. I can post my experiences after the upgrade in a couple of weeks.
